#33: I Heard God

I heard God

I heard God’s Voice-

Under a flood of crackling lights

And harmonization of floor creaks,

And upper room bed squeaks,

I heard God’s Voice-

Like a distant whisper,

Carried on nothing but late night cries,

All aimed to calculate,

How insurmountable mistakes,

Would ever be erased,

And how this board sheet,

Once as white as snow,

Could be reset to

Smelling of nothing but sweet innocence,

Reminiscent of childhood incense,

I heard a voice-

Different from my inner war,

Discreetly hidden beneath well-worn smiles,

And well versed lines,

The constant battle between love and war,

In the still of the night,

As airplanes graced the midnight sky,

I heard a sweet reminder,

My mistakes had already been reset,

And I was free to live again.
